In the book a History of Rutland it tells this story:
"in 1595 Flower and Sir John Harington conveyed the Edith Weston manor to Elizabeth, Lady St. John and her son Richard Griffen who had a lease of the manor and sold it in 1601 to Richard Halford son of Roger Halford of Welham. In 1621 Halford obtained a grant of free warrren and died in 1627 when the manor passed to his son Richard. Thomas a younger son was rector of Edith Weston and died 1648. Richard who was sheriff of Rutland in 1619 and 1631 conveyed the manor in 1654 to Thomas Bradgate and Anthony Oldfield. Charles Halford Seventh, dies without issue. He was sheriff in Rutland in 1665, He left the estate to his widow, who marries earl of Denbigh. George III created baronet in 1809 for Henry Halford Vaugn,

His sons may have come to US. Still trying to tie us directly into England Halfords.

There are two separate but similar crests for Halford. Both have greyhounds on them, leading me to believe there are more than one Halford family in England.

The name Halford, comes from Hall of the Ford. I have all this information somewhere in my records. Before England, however, I have no knowledge whatsoever.
