This posting is in regards to 1850 Coosa Co. ALA census of adjoining households John C. Halford, Kirkham McEwen, John Law, Samuel Archer, and Thomas Gant and what was their relationship with my 3rd great George Washington and wife #1 Martha Law? Recently, I found the 1850 Coosa census detailed list on the Internet at: http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/al/coosa/census/1850/coosa.txt Of interest to me was the following listings living in next household(s) to Kirkham McEwen (George Washington's #2 wife Mary Ann McEwen's parents). 1030. McEwen Kirkham 48 GA millwright 650 Mary Ann 45 George W. 21 Frances M. 19 GA Almeda 18 Minerva 15 GA Virginia 13 AL Robert 7 or 9 AL 1031. Halford John C. 63 NC farmer 1500 Catherine 57 SC Conaway Amanda 17 GA Benjamin F.3/12 AL 1032. Law John 27 GA farmer Winney 19 MS Miller James? 7 AL Gamage Lovice 29 GA Frances (f) 12 GA 1033. Archer Samuel 58 SC farmer Mary 60 SC Elizabeth 24 SC 1034. Gant Thomas 34 GA farmer Charlotte 9 AL John 8 AL David 6 AL William 4 AL Charlotte 82 NC 1035. Gant John 45 GA farmer 500 Elizabeth 35 GA Catherine 15 GA George W. 13 AL Louisa 10 Wiley 8 AL Lucinda 4 FL William 1/12 AL First, it was told to me via email a few years back (unfortunately it was lost) that a Jincy Halford (1031?) was actually Martha Law, or vise versa. I know the Halfords in hh 1031 are named the same as George and first wife Martha's children, John C. and Catherine. Next, I'm thinking that this John Law (1032) is Martha Law's brother. There must be some kind of relationship there between the Halfords and Laws. Finally, I find the Samuel Archer family with a Louisa two doors down at the Gant residence. My George's son Francis Marion Lee Washington married Louisa Archer 1857 Coosa Co. AL. ANY info on ANY of these families would greatly be appreciated.
