Liz,
I spoke to my cousin and uncle over the weekend regarding the family name and the history of our branch of the Halford name.
I will be hopefully getting some information from them in the near future.
What I did find out in the discussion with them was that there is an old book, that was generated with the History of the Halford family in it.
Unfornuately i did not get the title of the book from them, but I beleive that it is in the local libaries around Halford village as a reference text. As there was only every 12 of them publisehed. My cousin did also discover that there was a fault in the family tree,wihtin the text, as it that showed that our part of the Family tree was the supposed down fall of the Halford family within the village.
My cousin wrote/spoke to the author regarding the way that the tree demostrated the links within the different families and the heritage, and then proceed to show the information that they had collected regarding the development of the tree upto that point, where the tree branches off. So they demostrated that it was incorrect in the name that he had used. This then, showed that our side of the family name came from was not the demise of the Halford name after all.
As I said, when I have get the information from my cousin i will pass this on to you. As I did mention that I had reply to you posted message regarding the orignins of the Halford name.
