Do you recognize the name "Hofawger" or "Hofauger"? My immigrant ancestor was a Michael Hofauger, who, according to family tradition, came to America from Germany on a boatload of horses. His son, Samuel Hofawger was born in 1808 in Botetourt Co, Virginia. I'm assuming that Michael immigrated in the late 1700's. Any help on finding this family would be appreciated. I can find the name "Hofawger/Hofauger" nowhere but in our family. I'm assuming that it had a different spelling before Michael came to the US.
