Hi again Gina - thank you so much for replying.
I'm responding here because your email address isn't public on the forum.
Its hard to say why I'm so interested - this is the first house I've ever owned.I'm 46 and I moved in here from a newish condo. All my life I've wanted a house, and never dreamed I'd have one.I've always liked old houses best, because they have life and personality and memories and history.New houses are antiseptic and boring to me.
I work at the Public Library in Vancouver, and was told about the City Directories, where you can find residents from a property, going back over a century.I got very excited about the idea of finding out who had lived here and what they had done.Iris's was the first name I came across, and as it happened, she owned the house for longer than anyone else.It looks like she didn't live in it the whole time she owned it, but she owned it for about 20 years.
The house is an old one, built in 1931, and it has so much soul, I'd really love know about lives lived here before, and maybe to get to see some pictures of it when it was in its original state - the people who owned it recently didn't take great care of it.
I imagine that Meg probably at least spent time here, even if she never lived here.
I'm also kind of dogged when it comes to research - I love the idea of connections, and I love the idea that you can find out just about anything, if you bother to try.
Maybe I missed my calling as an investigative journalist or something. No matter - I like the work I do just fine.
If you want to email me, my email address is listed in the forum - you just click on identity.
Thanks again so much for posting and replying.
When I first saw Sheila's original posting about Iris, I couldn't beleive it - I was so stunned that I had Googled this name and actually found something on the Iris Niven that I was looking for information on.I was very dedicated to try to find out where the family was, but wasn't sure I ever would.
Thanks very much.
