Found in "The Southern Illinoisan" newpaper:
Clifford Hollis Hale, 84 died 15 April 2008 in Jackson Co., Missouri. He was born 16 Dec 1923, East St. Louis, Illinois to Hollis and Mildred (Whittington) Hale. He married Betty Imogene Carlock, who preceded him in death in 1969. He married snd wife Gladys Reed, who is also deceased.
Obituary names his living children and step-children.
