Harry, There was another Hale family, William Hale from New England. He was advised by his father to make the move from New England to Virginia, because there was a need for doctors in the southern part of this country. Perhaps one of his sons went to TN. That line wasn't mine, so I didn't research it. I did some checking in my sister's papers and haven't found your Samuel Elijah Hale so far. I'll keep looking. Iris
