Hello List,
Seeking descendents of J.M. Haldeman O'Conner (O'Connor)b. abt 1865 In France (according to census)
His father was Mortimer O'conner b. abt. 1829 Ire -
Mother - Susan
J.M. Haldeman O'conner married a Jessica and they had a least one son, Mortimer O'conner born early 1900's
Anyway, Haldeman O'conner was an Attorney in Harrisburg, Pa
from at least the late 1800's through the 1930's. I believe there is a connection with Haldemans of Baltimore, Md. I have at least two boxes of letters, documents etc..that were written to Haldeman. Some are on a personal matters, others are from the proffestional aspect. There are some letters that show he was doing genealogy work during his lifetime.
Listed is a Haldeman/Owings relation (Baltimore, Md) area. In several of the letters and newspaper aticles there is a great deal mentioned of a Silver Collection that belonged to this family. A brief mention from a baltimore newspaper 14 Aug 1932...." Made for Jacob Miller Haldeman, grandfather of Haldeman O'Connor , Of Harrisburg, it's present owner..." "The other being made for Haldemans sister, Nancy, who married judge William Owings, of Baltimore, Md" this silver service is being noted as one of the most treasured herilooms in the Haldeman O'connor family.
No, I do not have any of the silver, I only write that hoping that bit of info will help with locating a family member..
In some letters from the Pennsylvania Trust company, they make mention of Haldeman O'connor owning property in Kansas City, Missouri - The time frame appears to be 1895 - 1925
Please contact me if anyone knows of a descendent..
My father also has a box of letters to Haldeman O'conner, If I get to look through them perhaps it will give me more info on this family. For now, I posting some basic facts.
Please contact me if anyone can help.
