Neish.The 1917 Mitchell City Directory lists Elizabeth’s name as Francis E. Neish, wife of Andrew O. Neish.
Notes Andrew and Elizabeth owned and operated a store in Spring Grove, ILL., and later moved to Decora, Iowa.They lived in Decora for quite a few years and then moved to Mitchell, SD and later Sioux Falls, SD.They lived at 409 East 7th Street in Mitchell in 1917.

931Edwin Grant Haldeman,(Dennis W., John, son, Abraham,Jacob, Peter,Haldeman),was born 5 March 1866 in Spring Grove, McHenry Co., ILL.(Source, US Census 1880, ILL., McHery Co., Burton Twp., p 52, dwelling 327, family 327 6/19/1880}and died 11/21/51 in Harvard, McHenry Co., ILL.(cemetery marker in Richmond Municipal Cemetery)He married Annie Kate Rehorst on 14 February 1894 in McHenry Co., ILL., daughter of Heinrich (Henry)Rehorst and Christina Kasken Elfers.
Notes: Edwin first farmed west of Richmond, McHenry Co., ILL.Some time later they moved to a farm near Spring Grove on Winn Road.They farmed near Spring Grove for 26 years.Edwin had a pronounced limp.The story he told was that a boar hog had torn up his thigh some years earlier; however nothing was ever mentioned about the fate of the hog.US Census, 1910,indicated that the family was living in McHenry County.After the death of his wife, Annie, Edwin sold the farm near Spring Grove and lived with his son Cecil Haldeman on a farm west of Lawrence, ILL and later with his daughter, Viola Wilkinson in Chemung until his death.
Edwin’s Obiturary states: that the funeral was held 2/24/51 at the Schutt-McFarlin, & Saunders Funeral Home in Harvard, ILL.He died at the Harvard Hospital in the early hours on Wednesday, 11/21/51 after a brief illness.He lived at Spring Grove, ILL until 1923 when he moved to the Harvard area.
Annie died 6/14/29. is buried at the Richmond Cemetery.Her obituary: In the early hours of the morning a death angel entered a home and said to a mother, “Thy work is done, come up higher.”She was stricken early last fall with that dreadful disease, cancer.After consulting several physicians, she submitted to an operation in the city.After lingering weeks there her loved one brought her home, where in spite of all skill and loving care, she grew weaker and the intense pain seemed almost too great to bear.On Friday morning, June 14, 1929 she passed on to a place where suffering and sorrowing areno more.Annie Kate Rehorst, youngest daughter of Henry and Christina Rehorst, ws born March 11, 1871, in Kenosha Co., WI.In this vicinity she grew to young womanhood.On February 14, 1994 she was united in marriage to Edwin Grant Haldeman and to this union were born eight children:Edith Hamlin of Ornistorn, Saskatchewan, Canada; Luella Wilkinson of Grayslake, Viola Wilkinson and Ruth Tolbert of Chicago; Cecil, Edwin, Paul, and Lyman of Harvard, ILL.She is also survived by her husband, five sisters, two brothers, and eight grandchildren who with neighbors and friends mourn her passing.
Her early married life was spent on a farm just west of Richmond later moving to a farm near Spring Grove, which was her home for 26 years, until she had her family moved to the vicinity of Harvard where she has since resided.Her parents were of the Presbyterian faith, and she with her little brothers and sisters were christened in this faith and that early influence and training of these parents has been a guiding principle all her life.To her friends, she was true, to her neighbors kind and thoughtful; a devoted wife and loving mother whose home and loved ones were always first.
The funeral services were held at the home Sunday afternoon at 1:00 with Rev. Wilford Hall Taylor pastor of the Presbyterian Church of Harvard, officiating.Mrs. Laura Lusk and Mrs. Tillie Beck sang “Beautiful Isle of Somewhere.”The many beautiful flowers were a silent tribute of love for the deceasedThe pall bearers were: E.G. Turner, George Cairns, John Waspi of Richmond, Frank Maxon, Pearlle Hahn, B. Otten of Harvard.Internment was in the Richmond Cemetery.

Notes: Raised on the farm on Winn Road, Edwin was the normal farm boy.As he grew, he enjoyed boxing after his chores were complete, and, according to his younger brothers, was quite good.At age 19, Edwin left the farm and traveled through Northwestern Illinois, the Dakotas, Whyoming, Kansas, and eventually returned to ILL.After his marriage to Margaret they left the Chemung-Harvard area and lived with Luella Haldeman and Frank B. Wilkinson in Grayslake, ILL., because of a difference of religion with Margaret’s family.After the birth of their first child, Edwin and Margaret returned to Chemung.Ed began working for Dean’s Milk Company about a block from their home. He continued there until his retirement.A few years following his retirement, Ed and Margaret bought a house overlooking Lake Geneva in Fontana, WI, where they lived for a number of years.
