Thanks John for your assistance.
I also think that the children's christian names provide clues to the parents (or even grandparents) identities.
I also think that the 'Ogilvy' in James Ogilvy Haldane is a a related surname, but I noted there were over 200+ James Ogilvy born in Angus in the Mormons IGI - or like you say it may be the maiden surname of Ann Roberts' mother.
It's also quite possible that the maternal grandfather of John Roberts Haldane (the 1st born) was John Roberts - or else that he was named after his paternal grandfather (ie, the father of William Haldane was John).
Ah the joys of genealogy, it's like a jigsaw puzzle.
I'll try to pursue potential Ann Roberts baptisms in the coming months - This may provide more clues in the puzzle.
Do you know anything of the Haldanes of Bermony?
I think Bermony is somewhere nearby to Kingoldrum & Glenisla. I did a Google search for Haldane and noted a family connection to the Bermony area.
Cheers and thanks again,
Tony Beggs
