Hi Catherine.
Well, Isabel is a VERY common name...
So I start with what you do know - and a little more.Isabel Hadden married duncan Wilkieson (yes, both names spelled as I have them here) on 4 April 1761 in Inveresk.Their children:
Robert, Christened 7 Nov 1762
Jean, Christened 9 Dec 1764
Jean, Christened 29 May 1768
Duncan, Christened 16 Dec 1770
Lauchlan (male), Christened 19 Jan 1773
Isabel, Christened 21 May 1775
James, Christened 12 Oct 1777
George, Christened 9 Oct 1780
Based on that, we can assume that Duncan Wilkie(son) was the son of a Robert Wilkie(son) [men often named their first son after their father].Isabel was probably the daughter of a woman named Jean. Her father MAY have been a James or a George, but that is uncertain at best.he COULD have also been a Robert!
Based on the wedding date, Isabel was probably born about 1740-1742. That makes your assumption about Isabel being the daughter of Robert Haldane and Isabel Bain a VERY GOOD guess!
The way to find out, Ibelieve, is to obtain the films of the Christenings (can be rented to view at a local Family History Center run by the Mormon Church). There are often witnesses listed. The witnesses are often the grandparents of the child...
The film to ask for to see baptisms of Duncan and Isabel's children is as follows:Batch C195021 (or C195022); Parish record (also usually the LDS Film number): 1067755 for Inveresk and Musselburgh, East Lothian, Scotland.
Good luck - let me know what you find!If you make this connection, I will be happy to look for more!
