Malanson/Dupre' , late 1700's

I'm looking for any information on a Pier Mananson (Malanson) m. to Magdalenne Dupre' of Malmel, Isle of St. Domingo. They had at least 2 sons, Charles and Michel. They migrated to La. in the late 1700's or early 1800's. Someone told me that all Melanson's came from Nova Scotia or British Columbia. Is this true? I was led to believe that some originally came from St. Dom. Thanks for any help.
Suzie
