AZOR, Noel. owned land at Fond d'Icaque in the Plymouth region of Jérémie. The Affiches Américaines (1789), no 44, p.298, shows him buying 105 carreaux there.A map of Plymouth in the Archives Nationales, Paris, (135AP32), shows an estate in his name adjoining the large Séjourné plantation, and another belonging to his widow. He and two other wealthy local hommes de couleur were prosecuted for allegedly killing their fathers to inherit their property but were found innocent. In late 1791, he led local slaves in rebellion. I am afraid he is best remembered for supposedly committing against his neighbors one of the most publicized atrocities of the Haitian Revolution.
