Thanks for your last 2 replies, especially the one about James (Le Jeune) Blain's parents. Would you have any info on Nemorin Pouget's origins (1840-1915) who married Anna Blain in Cap Haitien? He was my grandfather's father (see http://getup.free.fr/map.html) and I owe him my surname!

Regarding Charles Carvalho, my father searched the jewish Carvalho families from St-Esprit and Bordeaux but nothing came out to be directly linked with Charles Carvalho.
