Ayiana,

Thanks for your note. Our family's oral history talks about our Jewish ancestry. There are stories that we used to have a Torah around the house. I have found out that our family name "Jacob" may have come from an American of Hungarian descent who immigrated to Haiti from Philadelphia in the 1800s. His name was Jacob ZICHY, but for some reason, his son (my great-great grandfather) took his first name as their last. It's quite possible that ZICHY was Jewish.
