Has anyone actually been in the country for research and photos etc.?

I know where some of my ancestors were buried and the church where the funeral was held and I would like to know if anyone has been down there to see things like this concerning genealogy?

Are there any pre revolution archives in the country?

The Catholic Church kept good records and that is where I got my information, which actually came to me from a distant cousin who could read French.

So, has anyone been there doing personal research?
