Hi Debbie,
The source for my records is a Hairgrove Family Book produced by another Hairgrove cousin, Alice Dudley, in 1976.Her information on these early Hairgroves appears to have been collected from a handwritten family record dated 1947.That date was crossed out and a date of 1926 written in. We have reason to believe from a letter that we have recently found this record was originally written down by our great grandfather Francis Marion Hairgrove son of William who was son of George and Elizabeth Adams Hairgrove.
We have no additional documentation on Elizabeth Adams other than her name nor do we have a marriage date.Another Hairgrove researcher that I have corresponded with gave me this info:".....it looks like William and a couple of his brothers [sons of George & Eliz] were in Marion County, SC around 1830. Also, the Three Rivers Historical Society, which I believe is somewhere around Marion Cnty, SC, has a listing of a marriage record for George Hairgrove and Elizabeth MNU - see http://216.239.57.100/search?q=cache:cjP3xDTwRdUC:www.threerivershistsoc.org/pdmh1.htm+%22george+hairgrove%22&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&client=googlet"http://216.239.57.100/search?q=cache:cjP3xDTwRdUC:www.threerivershistsoc.org/pdmh1.htm+%22george+hairgrove%22&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&client=googlet".
I have read many references to Mr. Wright's work.Do you think it would be possible to find out who may have inherited his records, to discover how he attached Stephen Marion as son of Stephen William and from what source he recorded the dates for Stephen Wm?
