I grew up in Shelby County just down the road from Martha Cammack Hairgrove and her children. My records show that she was born Oct. 24, 1885, in Mississippi (not Montgomery Co. TX). I recall hearing her say many times that her father "brought me to Texas when I was 9 years old."
She and David Alvis Hairgrove had four children: (1) Claryce Hairgrove(2-25-07) who married Russell S. Peters. They had a daughter--Martha Ann (10-25-34) who married David Brothers. Martha and David live in Sugarland, TX; they have two married sons, David and Scot. Claryce and Russell also had a son, Joseph David Peters (10-10-42) He is married to Kris, and they have 2 chilren, a daughter and son--Paula and Brian. (2) Thomas Alvis Hairgrove (12-22-08), the second child, drowned while still a teenager. (3) Emma Lucretia Hairgrove (6-21-11), never married, is still living in Buena Vista Community, Shelby County, TX, and just celebrated her 90th birthday. (4) Leon Hairgrove (8-27-13) married Laura Mae Lilly. They have two children: (a) Bettie Carolyn (5-1-43) who married Jack Christian of Tenaha, TX. Bettie and Jack have one daughter, Angela, married to Josh Whitton. (b) David Leon, married to Becky. They live in Buena Vista Community, TX.
