I have been looking for information on the Hairs of NC for a long time and just came across your post. There must not be too much research from NC Hairs on their families as I too am receiving no response to my posts.

I have been looking for info on Jesse Hair who married Dicey Lockerman in 1836 in Cumberland County, NC. I think I can help you some if you have not found your answers. I recently found the website for the Cumberland County Register of Deeds and their database of land records go back to 1754. A search will reveal a division of the estate of your Jesse Hair by the Court of Pleas and Quarters. This document names the wife of Jesse and some of his children. The rest of his children can be found from deeds where they sold their shares of the estate to siblings.

Jesse's wife was Nancy and they had 12 children.

Catherine b. abt. 1798 d. abt 1842 m. Duncan Bedsole 1825
Margaret b. abt 1800 m. Matthew Hale 1817
Nancy b. abt 1804 m. William Hollingsworth 1825
Mary b. abt 1804 m. Jonathan Averitt 1829
John b. 1809 d. 1887 m. Eliza Ann McGill 1837
Roger b. 1810 m. Ann Jane Sterling 1835
Jesse b. 1811 d. bet. 1884-1888 m. Dicey Lockerman 1836
Duncan b. abt 1814 m. Martha Jane Anderson 1843
William m. Margaret Everitt 1846
Stephen m. Nancy Averitt 1843
Reuben m. Nancy Anderson 1844
Jennett b. abt 1803 m. James Hall 1826

All of the marriages occurred in Cumberland County. I believe most of them stayed in NC. John, Roger and Jesse moved to Georgia after they married.

Jesse may have had a brother named Stephen and their father may have been Simon Pharis Hair of Bladen County. I have only pieced this together in the last couple of months so I am not 100% sure it is correct but it appears promising. Maybe it will give you a boost if you still need it.
