Charlotte: I'd love to share! Below is my information on Edward. Note that the Chesnut family is very strict about the proper spelling of their last name - only 1 t. A very lovely Southern lady reminded me this. Like many ladies of the day, they disregarded their first name and went by their middle, thus Charlotte Ellen was Ellen and Esther Serena was Serena. Serena and Thomas moved to FL and settled there. Regarding Edward here is his information: Edward – b. 4/23/1827, Camden, SC d. 12/24/1903, Atlanta, GA Married Mary Whitaker Chesnut b. 7/10/1830, Camden, d. 5/14/1858 Philadelphia, PA Marriage date: 6/18/1851 at Sandy Hill, Kershaw Co., SC Children: Ellen Whitaker – b. 7/14/1853 and John Chesnut – b.8/14/1856 Edward Second Marriage Married Wannie Chapman b. 12/1852 Griffin, GA d. 9/17/1926, Jones Co., GA No children from this marriage So many Hailes - was your Amanda daughter of Margaret and Robert Neely Haile? If so Mary J. Haile was Robert's mother, but I can't place his father - Mary was a 50 yr. old widow in the 1870 census Gail :) Notify Administrator about this message?
