Does anyone know the true facts surrounding the death of William Haile, son of Benjamin and Amelia? He was born in Kershaw Co, SC in April of 1830 and died Dec. 1849. There are two stories 1) he died as a result of a pistol target shooting practice at the University of Virginia 2) same accident but at the University of Alabama. I've contacted, and they researched for me at UVA and no record of William Haile enrolled or killed there. Am awaiting some word from Alabama. Additionally, does anyone know where William is buried? I would assume since the family was still in Kershaw Co. in 1850's,they'd bury him at Old Quaker with his father; however, can't find anything online to confirm. Some Haile must know the story. He drops off any census (although Est. Wm.Haile is listed in 1850 slave census). Thank you.
