Jean -- It does not appear that we're researching the same man. Elizabeth MAXWELL's husband, Meshach, was born on or about 23 JUN 1774. He was married at least once prior to marrying Elizabeth, which he did sometime between 1820 and 1823, in Bedford Co, TN. He had at least 3 children from the prior marriage, and 9 by Elizabeth.

The first 3 children (1 dau, 2 sons) were born between 1810 and 1815. It does not appear that they would be old enough to have children of their own bn ca 1838. Elizabeth's first known child (a son) was born ca 1823, and her ninth (a dau) in 1844.

The family moved to the South/Central IL counties of Randolph and Washington ca 1830/31. From there, some descendants migrated to SE KS.

Among other descendants was a grandson, Meshach, bn ca 1851/53 in IL, and a great grandson, Meshach, bn 23 MAY 1894, also in IL.
