william hagger b. abt 1891
My grandfather by adoption was William Hagger b. abt 1891 m. Clara Freeman b.abt 1906. They had one son who died in infancy and subsequently adopted 3x brothers by the name of Weeks (they were orphaned during the war) and my father. They lived in Berden (Little London) Nr Bps Stortford, Herts, he was a farmer, I believe he was born in Langley Lower Green, Chishall, Nr Royston, not so far away from Therfield ( I live in Royston). He died abt.1988 aged 97.My father thinks his fathers'or grandfathers name was Luke.
He had a brother Frank and a sister Ivy ( both younger). They lived in Stocking Pelham in later years.Ivy married Fred Brett. Freds brothers family were neighbouring farmers to William & Clara, Freds sister Annie married a Debnam, which was my mother's family.
We believe they originated from Therfield. Does anyone have any info. that may help.
Earlier response:-
A search of the 1881
census CDs only found one Luke in the whole country. He was just about old
enough to have been William's father, AND he was at Langley-
