I have come into possession of a folder of papers relating to a branch of the Haggard family, and want to send it to someone who can use it, as I have no relationship to Haggard.
A re-typed letter says Capt. John Nelson Haggard & Sara Jane Peters were wed in Tennessee in 1864 and moved to MO. after their first child was born. They had ten children: Artelia, Mary, Lillian, Katie, Leandrew (Cleve), George Samuel, Josiah, Margaret, James Nelson, Elmer (Grant). It goes on to tell of their children. There is a page copied from a Bible naming Haggard children born in Licking, MO. George S. Haggard born Sept 2, 1877 apparently the father and Ruth C. Noel born Nov 21 1878 in Wellsville, MO. the mother - Lillian, Cletus C., Earl N., Vernon N. Haggard, Pearl, Milton C., and Margaret C.K. Haggard. The births are from 1935 to 1948. Margaret Haggard married George Crawford and lived in California.
Mother Haggard died at age 93 in MO. and was buried in Licking. Surviving were four sons, Vernon and Earl of Tularosa, Cletus of Sacramento, CA., Milton of Long Beach, CA., and a daughter Margaret Crawford of Ukiah, CA.
