Sarah Haggard (head of family #295)in the 1870 Census of Kemper County, MS, Post Office DeKalb, enumerated on the 18th of July 1870: Haggard, Sarah 43 Hattie 24 Wm 22 Eddy 20 David 16 Mary 12 Sallie 18 George 7 I am concerned about the position of Sallie's name in this listing; there is a definite "1" before the "8" in the census record, which makes her name out of sequence. Also, it looks as if there was "1" (which had been erased) before the "7" for George, who was listed as female. Sarah was born in Alabama; all children were born in Mississippi. Could this Sarah be the wife or widow of Burrel Jackson Haggard, son of John William Haggard (according to tradition) and Sarah Pace Haggard? ***** Found the following by searching MSGENWEB for Kemper County: [Salem Baptist Cemetery] Haggard, Burl Jackson 1834 - ? Haggard, Caroline no dates, dau of B.J. & Sara E. Haggard Haggard, Sara E. Buckley no dates, wife of Burl J. Haggard ***** Hopefully, a descendant of this Sarah will see this posting and respond. Would appreciate help from anyone who knows the identity of this Sarah. Notify Administrator about this message?
