Sarah A. HAGGARD was born abt. 1822 in Kentucky. She married Ezekiel ELKIN 27 June 1842 in Clark County, Kentucky. (DATE OF MARRIAGE NOT PROVEN AS I DID NOT DOCUMENT WHERE I GOT THIS INFO. FORGIVE ME, IT WAS EARLY IN MY RESEARCH.) Sarah died before 1910, probably in Tennessee, possibly Weakley County. No burial place has yet been found for her. Would LOVE to determine whose daughter she was.
Ezekiel ELKIN was born about 1818 in Kentucky and died before 1900 in Tennessee. Although I have no concrete proof at this time, I am working on the theory that he was the son of Enoch ELKIN, Sr. of Clark County, Kentucky and his wife, Millie HAGGARD. Millie was the daughter of Bartlett HAGGARD and Martha A. DAWSON.
I have been looking over the current research (and some not-so-current) and my Sarah HAGGARD never shows up. I have searched the 1840 census for Clark County, Kentucky and the only female that might possibly be Sarah lived in the home of a Nathaniel HAGGARD, page 272, line 12. It is entirely possible that this female is a wife of Nathaniel's son since there is also a male in the same age bracket (20-30) in the home. Which Nathaniel HAGGARD is this? His age, if he is indeed the oldest male in the home, is 60-70. However, there is also another Nathaniel HAGGARD in Clark County in 1840 on page 261, line 24, and he, too, is between 60 & 70 years of age. Which of these two men is the Nathaniel, Jr. who was the brother of Bartlett and son of Nathaniel HAGGARD and Elizabeth GENTRY?
Since my Sarah HAGGARD did not marry until she was about 22 years old, I am also wondering if she was a HAGGARD widow when she married Ezekiel ELKIN.
