I have researched the Hagemann family for a number of years. According to Passenger and Immigration Index, 1500-1900s, Johan Heinrich Christian Hagemann and his wife Johanna Wilhelmine Stanze Hagemann immigrated to New Orleans from Hohenassel,in the year 1852. With them were the following children: Johan Heinrich Conrad, Johanna Christine, Henrich Ludwig Wilhelm, Heinrich Fredrich Christian, Caroline Auguste, Carl Heinrich Wilhelm and Caroline Louise. These long names are very confusing. My family always referred to my gggrandfather as Christian Hagemann. It took me years to discover that his full name was Johan Heinrich Christian. Seems very likely that Carl is your ancestor. My ggrandfather was Henrich Ludwig Wilhelm and his son Philip George Hagemann, Sr. was my grandfather and my father was Philip George Hagemann Jr. He dropped the "n" in the 1940s. I have no children, but my only sibling Kenneth Philip Hageman (died in 1992)had 4 sons and 2 daughters. The boys have 4 sons and so far they have 2 sons so the Hageman name will go on. The exact date that the Hagemanns arrived in New Orleans cannot be determined at this time because the records were destroyed for 1851 and 1852. They are working on reconstructing them from ships bills of lading, etc., but it will take a few more years. This is probably more than you wanted to know, but I hope it is helpful.
