My father Harold Franklin Hagle was always called Frank. He may have been related to the Frank Hagle in your post.He was born Sep 14, in (take your pick) 1900, 1903, 1906 while his mother Mary was travelling from Calgary, Alberta, Canada to Chehalis, WA, supposedly with a new husband - maybe not his father, along with 3 of 4 older daughters.Mary was Irish and red-haired.The daughters were named Edith, Lucille, and Ethelyn.Bertha had been killed in some kind of explosion in Calgary.Edith was born in Sanalac, Michigan, (now a part of Detroit).I do not know my grandmothers maiden name. There was no birth certificate for my father, family legend had it that he was born in a covered wagon approximately at the US/Canada border. He and all of his sisters died years ago, Edith most recently (1974) in Phoenix, AZ.The changed spelling of my last name was due to his effort to escape some debts in 1936 and my own brothers and sisters all are "Hagle", as were all of his sisters before marriage. He served in WWII in the US Army, being drafted during 1943, and is buried in the National Cemetary at Ft Rosecrans in San Diego, CA, having died in 1956.If the Frank Hagel named in your post was Franklin, it seems very possible that it was a "family"
name and they were related in some way.I have a list of names that Edith left to me that shows the names of four brothers named Hagle, circa 1896, and a number of their children.I never discussed it with her, so little else is known about it.I also have a copy of her birth cert.
