Just a word of caution: Check spelling every way you can.
Found my John Decatur HAGANS & family in the Seal Twp, Pike Co OH 1880 Census after a long search.
Ancestry's (new) 1880 Index has them as HAGAUS!
Seems the enumerator's N can also be read as a U (eek).
No wonder Soundex didn't catch them.
