John Hagans/Hagins 1722-1816 NC
I have discovered a John Hagins that the histories have missed. His records have been confused with John Huggins whose name was spelled Haggins in many records.
John Hagins was born ca 1722 and died in 1816, buried at Thyatira Presbyterian Church Cemetery near Salisbury, NC. He had a brother James (usually spelled Hagans) who died in the same area in 1760. I have the names of his 2nd and 3rd wives, and the children of his last marriage. He was the bondsman on the marriage of John Hagins to Mary Luckey in 1779. This younger John was taxed in 1778 in what is now Davie Co., NC, and then disappeared.
John's first land record 1752 in old Rowan Co., NC was spelled Higgins. Over the years many spellings were used, but he was buried with the name Hagins.
I believe his son, John, who married Mary Luckey may be the John Higgins who went to Wilkes/Ashe Co., NC, and possibly married Fannie Baugas/Baugauss second.
Anyone think they are related to this John?
