My great great grandmother Bertha Sophie Helfrich b. 4/5/1870, came over to the US from Freiberg, Baden Germany sometime in the 1880s. Her nephew, Erich Hafner b. 6/11/1905, immigrated to St. Louis, MO from the same area and became a US citizen in 1923.
I have no other information about this family, other than Bertha's death records, Erich's immigration manifest saying that his aunt (Bertha) was sponsoring him, and Erich's Declaration of Intention. I am assuming that Erich's mother was Bertha's sister, based on the difference in the surname, but I have hit a brick wall. Can anyone help me? Thank you!
