1859: Thomas Hackney stabbed Mr. Manus at election, Newnan, GA.
The Newnan (Ga.) Independent Blade, of the 7th inst. says:
On the morning of the election an encounter took place in one of the grocery stores of this place, between a Mr. Manus, a brick mason, and Thomas Hackney, in which the former received a stab in the breast. At first it was thought that the wound would prove fatal, but we are glad to learn that Manus is convalescent and will soon be well.
