I would update only to show my slightly better understanding of the various Hackett clans, both in Fethard, and Clonmel.
The Curraghtarsna family of Maj James Hackett, is, I believe, refered to as the Fethard Hacketts, a family that goes back several centuries and itself is devided into several branches by the mid-1800s. Two of the early Hacketts are entombed within the cities Trinity Church. One Hackett grave is nearby a Murray grave (John and Sarah) further strengthening my belief that the Murrays became associated with the Hacketts prior to relocating to Curraghtarsna. Indeed, the Hacketts for a time resided in Ballygambon, a large estate and orchard just south of Fethard- a stand of trees still there are known as Hacketts Grove. Members of a connected family refer to themselves as being of Orchardstown, a small townland NW of Clonmel - nothing historic remains there or in Curraghtarsna (even the Ballygambon estate was abandoned by the 1700s, destroyed, rebuilt, and reoccupied). There is also reference to the Orchardstown Hacketts being buried at a private family cemetery they named Newchapel. It is a small spot off the road about a mile from Orchardstown, the family graves are within a wrought iron fence and everything is obscured and inaccessible due to decades or centuries of overgrown thicket, briar and bushes.
So I've still not found Patrick and Mary Hackett Murray, but am seeking! A local resident of Knockkelly, just east of fethard said the Murrays of Fethard circa the early 1900 were still known as 'stone cutters' lending more support to my theory of the Murrays working for the Hacketts and why my great grandfather Thomas Murray came to the US as an experienced teen to work in a Massachusetts quarry.
Thats the update, no news, no discoverys, but some additional familiarity. Still seeking descendants, maybe family of John in Moyglass/Killenaule, Walter in Ballinure/Orchardstown, or Mary and Patrick themselves who owned property in Knockbritt in 1867 then, I think, relocated to Scrothea, near Irishtown, south of the river at Clonmel. They also had two daughters who stayed in Ireland, no death or marriage records found as yet.
