ATTN:Irene Windle #8948.Yes, you are correct.Name spelled Rolfe but often spelled as Rolf, Roff, Ralph, ec. etc.
I have found nothing on her except that they were married in England, Spring of 1608.Bermuda records have made some corrections.First, Sarahdid not die on Bermuda Isle. They have a list of the dead, and she is not among them.I have read on this and consulted Bermuda records.
Also Bermuda records have corrected and explained the gender here. There was a girl born on the island and she was named Bermudez after the discoverer of the Island. When the child, Bermuda was named that left the Rolfes with needing another name, so they named their SON Bermuda. By our custom of A at the end, usully refering to a female, the gender was reversed. It would be easy to correct this with a review of the Bermuda records, but themistake in American books, has been so far reaching that it is hard to counteract.
The only Hacker I could find, was someone who operated a General Store in Jamestown in 1624.I would assume Sarah came from Heacham, Norfolk, England. Were did you Francis Hacker come from?
The Regicide statement makes it even more interesting.I would like to correspond with you, if possible.Wilma [email protected]
