Jack, I'm sure we are the same line. My great grandfather came to the United States in 1866. I have copies of letters that were written to him over a period of years from his family in Germany and also from George (his brother) who came to the United States in 1883. Also from Louisa (his sister who came from Germany and lived in California, and Johann (his brother) who settled in South America. These letters were addressed from Valera. Now several letters were from, or spoke of George. He came to the U.S. and then later letters indicate that he lived near Johann and died there in Venezuela in 1911. I am curious as to whether you know anything of his family. I believe he had a wife and children, but I don't know if they came to America with him. We have letters from Jose' Maria to my Grandfather, Albert Julius. My brother wrote to Jorge A Haack in 1991 who replied with a nice letter and some pictures. His father was also named Jorge. He was a hotel or Country Club manager as were two of his brothers.
