Hi Pam,

There's a really great little book entitled "My Ancestors Were Gypsies" by Sharon Sillers Floate, published by Society of Genealogists Enterprises Ltd. The ISBN number is 1 903462 84 3. My great grandmother on my mother's side was full gypsy, which makes me one eighth. Although it can be frustrating and challenging to do gypsy genealogy, I think my Taylor tribe are THE most interesting lot in my whole tree!

If anyone else is reading this ... my Taylors travelled mostly in Suffolk & Norfolk (UK), and I recently found out they frequently went to Kent hop-picking in a place called Offham around Aug/Sep time (someone contacted me and told me about some of those elusive baptisms - hurray!). Their winter base was in the the East End of London (Canning Town) and when the head of the family, Alger Taylor (abt.1862 - 1904), developed chronic asthma the family seemed to have stopped travelling. The Taylors married into the Lee and the Buckley tribes.

For gypsy vocabulary, here's a good site: http://www.tribe-roman-morga.com/vocabulary.html

Kushti bok! (Good luck!)

Sarah-Lou Morley
