Hello All Who Are Interested In This Family,

Hugh Gwynn was married to Sarah Rice, born ca 1767 in Hanover County, Va. It is my understanding that Hugh was born ca 1749, making him about 20 years older than his wife. The couple were married ca 1771 as their children's birth dates begin with 1772. I am not sure if Hugh were married previously. Hugh and Sarah had nine children, Ramsome, Jordon, Rebecca, Frances J.; Elisha; Sarah Elizabeth; John; Elizabeth, and Iverson.

I have seen the given names of Ransom(e) attached to other brances of Gwynns, as well as the given name of Iverson. I have not been able to locate an appropriate family for Hugh, although he seems to be among the mainstream of the family at large, with these given names.

Sarah Rice's father was Thomas Rice of Hanover County, VA and Caswell County, North Carolina. From the given names with Hugh and Sarah's family, I can see where the Rebecca, Elisha, Sarah, and John can be readily found in the Rice family; I would imagine that the names of Ransom, Jordon, Frances, and Iverson would find their origin in the Gwynn family.

I would appreciate discussing these families.

Best regards,

John Fox
Winston-Salem, NC
