I don't know why people have a hard time with this. Let me explain something, Samuel Sr. Gwinn died 25 Mar 1839, 94 years of age. He's buried at the Wade Hampton Gwinn Cem., his head stone clearly shows that. This puts his birth at 1854.... not 1851. Yes, his parents are Robert GWIN and Jean KINCAID. Both Samuel and his brother James moved into what is now WV, and changed the spelling of their last name to GWINN. Their brother Capt. David GWIN was born about 1842. . as you can see it's inpossible for this Samuel to be son of David. Conrad Keller made some mistakes in his book on the GWIN's... this is one of them... Robert's & Jean's son David (b. 1842), DID NOT have a son Samuel. David's children are: (from 1st wife Jane 8 kids) Agnes "Nancy" GWIN, James, Mary "Polly" GWIN, Elizabeth GWIN, Jane GWIN, Sarah "Sally" GWIN, Robert Moses GWIN, and John W. Sr. GWINN. (from 2nd wife Violet 5 kids) Isabella GWINN, Margaret "Peggy", Rachel Viola GWINN, David Stephenson GWINN, and Susannah Henderson GWINN. As you can see Capt. The spelling of David GWIN last name changed before he married his 2nd wife. (this was common back in those days)

LT. Joseph GWIN (b. abt 1740) m. Mary Jane Kincaid
Capt. David GWIN (b. abt 1742) m1. Jane Carlile, m2. Violet Jane Crawford
James "Sr." GWINN (b. abt 1744) m1. Marca Magdaline "Mary" Estill, m2. Nancy Rachel Carlile
Samuel "Sr." GWINN (b. 1745) m1. Elizabeth Speece, m2. Elizabeth Lockridge
Robert GUYN (b. 1746) m. Jane Raburn
Simon GWIN (b. 1748) m. ???
Nell GWIN (b. 1750) m. James O'Neal
Thomas GWIN (b. abt 1750) m. Sarah Morris
I decend from James Sr. GWINN and Nancy CARLILE.
