Mitchell, I'm sorry to say that I don't have any documentation of your line of GWINN's. It's only speculation... I was aware of the difference between Thomas b. 1807, and Thomas b. 1827. Somewhere in the past I had seen a posting stating that Tolliver Perry Gwinn had a brother named Thomas, and had assumed that they meant Thomas b. 1827. Also I had seen another posting that Tolliver Perry Gwinn's parents were Thomas Gwinn b. 1807 and Frances Davis. That is how I had concluded that Thomas b. 1827, was the son of Thomas b. 1807. ..... It could be possible when looking at both the 1840 census' on Thomas and W.M.B. GUIN. I do not believe that Lewis b. 1821 was the son of Thomas b. 1807, because Frances would of been 11 years old at his birth. Rather, I believe that he was the son of W.M.B. Gwinn. Since, Lewis b. 1821 and Thomas b. 1827 both married Gillespie gal's ... there is a strong possibility that they were actually brothers. (maybe Lewis, Tolliver, and Thomas were W.M.B. Gwinn's children). I find it very strange that you refer to William as "William Maddox Gwinn", especially when the middle names Mansel, Melmouth, and Booker are so predominate in your line of Gwinn's (from SC). I believe that W.M.B. Gwinn was too old to be a son of Baysden, their ages separated by 10 years. I've been told that Baysden wife's maiden name was Maddox. I don't believe that William's middle name was the Maddox. I also highly suspect that William GWINN, born between 1770/1780, could have actually been the 15-year-old GWINN boy that saved General Francis Marion, the "The Swamp Fox" of the Revolutionary War. But I calculate his birth at 1765/1766. There was a William Gwinn in one of his Company's (This interested me because my GGGrandfather was Francis Marion GWINN - I know there is not a connection to my GWINN's VA>WV>KY>TX, and the South Carolina GWINN's, unless prior to 1700's in WALES) ------------------------- 1840 Census Not Stated, Spartanburg, South Carolina; Roll: 515; Page: 80. 27.
