WILL OF JOHN GWIN

IN THE NAME OF GOD, AMEN.
I John Gwin Senior of Fairfield District in the State of South Carolina being weak in Body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God, calling to mind the mortality of my body & knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make & ordain this my last will and testament that is to say, principly & first of all I give & recommend my soul into the hands of Almighty God that gave it, & my body I recommend to the Earth to be buried in decent, Christian burial at the discretion of my executors. Nothing doubting but at the General Resurection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God. & as touching such worldly estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me in this life, I give demise & disapose of the same in the following manner & form. FIRST I give & bequeath to my dearly beloved wife Elizabeth all the land now in my possession also all my stock of cattle & hogs & one mare & colt, & all my household furniture & plantation tooles during her natural life. & at her decease the land to be equally divided agreeable to quantity & quality & improvements between my sons Richard, John & Minor. Also the remaining part of my personal property at her decease to be equally divided between my sons before mentioned & if either or any of them should die without a lawfull issue their part of the property real & personal to descend to those or his surviving. I also give & bequeath to my loving son Richard on bay mare & colt. I also give & bequeath to my loving son John one sorel mare. I also give & bequeath to my loving son Minor one grey horse. I also give & bequeath to my loving son in law Eligah Shirley ninety four acres of land which has has in possession & by a dead of gift by me made to him bareing date the 20th day of June 1810. I also give & bequeath to my loving son in law John Shirley eighty seven acres of land. Which he is now in possession of, & by a deed of gift by me made to him bareing date 20th June 1810. I likewise constitute & ordain my dearely beloved wife Elizabeth Gwin Executrix & my loving son Richard Executor of this my last will and testament. & I do hereby uterly disallow, revoke & disanul all & every other former testament wills & legacies bequeaths & executors by me in any wise beforee named to be my last will & testament. In witness thereof, I have hereunto set my hand & seale the 23rd day of June 1810. Signed Sealed published & declared by the said John Gwin as his last will & testament who in the presence of us. Who in the presence of each other have subscribed our names.
