My name is John W. Zimmerman. I found your name online as the author of "The John Bowden Family of Virginia, North Carolina, and Tennessee." I attempted to e-mail you at joyce1033@sbcglobal.net, but that message was returned.
My sister, Diane Hall, and myself are great grandchildren of Robert Lee Bowden, b 12 Jan 1865, White Sulphur Springs, Greenbrier, WV, d 9 Oct 1906. Robert married Florence Hunter, b 7 Aug 1869, Covington, Kenton, KY, d 27 May 1946. Robert and Florence married on 10 Mar 1887 in Cincinnati, Hamilton, OH, and divorced on 17 Jul 1899 in Kentucky. They had two children, Florence Lee Nora Bowden (1888-1986 - our grandmother) and Edna Mabel Bowden. (1890-1932). Much of that information we have from handwritten accounts passed to us by our grandmother, Florence Lee Nora Bowden Milne. The Greenbrier County, WV Courthouse advised us that they have no record of Robert's birth.
Diane and I believe that Robert remarried to a woman named Bertie (given name), that they lived in Ceredo, Wayne, OH, and that Robert died in 1906, but we have no record of where he died. We believe that he worked as a railroad brakeman.
We have hit a brick wall in trying to establish Robert Lee Bowden's parents names, and his place of death., and would greatly appreciate any assistance you might be able to provide us.
