This is all of the information that I've found so far for Josiah.I haven't been looking long though.I hope what little I have helps.
Josiah Gwin , enlisted in Spartanburg, SC by Liet. Thompson.[ UDC Historical Proof and Muster Cards from Columbia ] Josiah Gwin Co. G 27th, SC Infantry, Captured at Petersburg, Va. Battle of Weldon Railroad/ Aug21, 1864, Arrived at Point Lookout Prison / Aug 24, 1864, Exchanged Oct 30, 1864. Died July 2, 1865. Son of John Gwin and Ruthy Higgins, Walnut Grove, Spartanburg Co. SC
His brother, Mansel Gwinn, also served in the Civil war...
Mansel Gwinn - CSA, Co. K. 3rd Reg. (B. 04 03 1829 in Spartanburg, SC - D. 08 13 1848 in Spartanburg, SC) buried at Friendship Baptist Church, Pauline, SC
Mansel was a Baptist. He repaired shoes and made fine boots. He was also a Miller. In 1861, at first call, he volunteered to serve in the civil war as a confederate in Co. K. 3rd Reg. out of South Carolina. He served as Chief-of-Police in Spartanburg and also had a mercantile and grocery store. He finally returned to his farm to become a Miller.
