Just found your post from 1999.My husband's great grandmother was Mary Elizabeth Gwin (sometimes spelled Guinn or Gwinn) B. 16 Feb 1834 and D 23 Apr 1918.That would put her at the right age to be 16 in 1850 census. Her father's name was M. M. Guinn (1807-1885) and her mother was Mary Carson. She had a brother named Thomas and one named M.M.C. Guin.We have a letter from the civil war that was written by M.M.C. Guin to his sister and in it he mentions the brother Thomas.Mary Elizabeth Gwin married Andrew Jackson Gray and had eight children.Does this fit into your family pattern?
