There was once a William Guthrie, living in the same township and county as my Robert Guthrie's father-in-law, William Caldwell - - WESTMORELAND COUNTY, Armstrong Twp, Penn - 1773. This "area of land" later became Washington County, Penn. That "same area of land" was also claimed by Virginia at the same time as Pennsylvania, and they called this area the Penn's called Westmoreland County "Ohio County, Virginia (which later became West Virginia.) There was a court docket of a gentleman named Milligan, who murdered a William Guthrie. I could never locate anything else about the trial, this William Guthrie or his family. So YOU FRICKEN BET ! There is a lot of reasons for me to be so "fixated" on the name, "William Guthrie" as the possible father of my Robert Guthrie ! Robert names his first born son, "William." His second born son was named after Nathaniel Templeton, whom Robert fought alongside with during the Revolutionary War. But for me to go through ALL the 15-years of research I have done at Salt Lake, and mention every single tid-bit of info I have found, would take more than this website has to offer me in the amount of text it will take. So I figured I would ask folks about if they had any knowledge of a possible "William Guthrie" in early Penn and Virginia - - also mentioning the middle names of Robert's children, as possible "group clusters of families" that may have (and often did) travel together - not only in America, but together in the motherland from which they came to America. So take a "chill-pill" and RELAX, dude ! :) Notify Administrator about this message?
