Thanks for responding. (1) My Robert Guthrie was born 1752 - so I'm sure this is not he. He named his first child "William" - - so I believe I would be looking for research on a William Guthrie, perhaps born 1725-1730-ish ?? (2) DNA study ? Sounds a bit Orwellian to me. If I were to do such a thing, and get some results saying I descended from some "Orgalthorpe" Guthrie, ca. 1212, I don't know how much I would even believe that anyway - - with all due respect. I would STILL need to find my Guthrie's - no matter what the tests may show. (3) Lawrence Guthrie's book, "American Guthrie's and Allied Families" - 1933.....I think, should be taken for a "presumable and hypothetical starting point", if that. He lists the marriage date of my Robert Guthrie, but doesn't say WHERE he was married, or the source of the marriage date ! (AUGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH !!!) And this "James Guthrie/ Miss Bussell" thing for Robert's parents is so WEAK and absolutely NON-BELIEVABLE that I'm surprised he even published it ! Notify Administrator about this message?
