The tithables list I posted was for the year 1787, 10 years after your ancestors arrived in Augusta County. With that time passage, they may have left the county or even been missed in the enumeration. I can't guarantee the accuracy of the extraction as I am not the one who did it. I do think it's probably reasonably accurate as it was published as a three volume set some years ago. These tithables lists were started in 1782 so you can borrow the microfilms from the Library of Virginia (as I did for Halifax County) if they do exist and follow your ancestors' progression there in Augusta County. A reference librarian at your local library can assist you if you decide to research that particular county and arrange the borrowing for you.
Halifax County lists were from 1782 to 1930 with only the years 1818 and 1864 missing....and they were misssing because the law didn't require them in those years. I would think the lists for Augusta County might run concurrent to those of Halifax County.
