James - my uncle Harold Hill did the DNA for the HILL family project and found out we were from the Jonas and Henry Hill lineage yet I cannot find where my GGGgrandfather John Hill came from or where he met my Martha Guthrie or married her. Watching dates, they were only together 1850-1860 for about 8-9 years as she had a daughter Nancy C Hill born in 1859/60 timeframe and had another daughter with a man she married - Washington Knight in Greene Cty TENN in 1860. That means she went from one man to another or her daughter Nancy C Hill was by Knight but carrying a Hill name. I don't know if Harold's DNA would be good for your project as he is a Hill descedent (father was Hill/mother was Guthrie) but I can certainly ask him if he would mine doing so again for the Guthrie DNA. Please advise as to the worth of this effort. Harold is now in his 90's and is the last hope for a close lineage. He has two sons who could also do the test but again they are diluted by other family lines mixing in. I do know the HILLS, GUTHRIES, CASH, CARTERS, BROWN, MARTINS, BLANTON'S KNIGHTS, WERE ALL RELATED THROUGH MARRIAGE AND THEY ALL LIVED CLOSE to each other both in SC and Greene Cty. TN. As soon as I get my family tree 2009 up to date with all the recent research, I will post it online for others to see. Isn't geneaology fun?? HS Notify Administrator about this message?
