Hi Lem,

It's been some years since I contacted you. I've been trying to track my Wilburn guys for nearly 20 years now.
One clue that I learned some years ago had to do with William Wilburn who m Eda Guttery in Amherst VA in 1787. This is the second Wilburn and Guttery marriage known to me. First one took place (off top of my head) in Middlesex Co VA, Christ Parish in 1727/28, Forget exactly what year. Margaret Wilburn m a Guttery. Another Wilburn marriage in Middlesex Co VA 1727 was to a Paul PHILPOTT.

Here's what I do know about my Wilburn ancestors and their kin. My Wilburn guys were in York Co VA before 1656. Then I have big gaps to Middlesex Co VA. From there to Lousia Co VA to Goochland, VA by 1750, some went to Halifax VA, others to surrounding counties in VA. Others to Wilkes Co NC/ Eastern TN, KY etc. Richard Wilburn who married an Unk Hughes woman was the man who signed the marriage bond for his son William Wilburn to m Eda Guttery. Richard later settled into Highland, Co OH. His son lived in Paint Creek twp in Highland, but by 1718, Richard purchased land in Bush twp also in Highland, OH.

Now I have a question for you. Can you identify the Guttery or varied spellings who settled into Halifax Co VA who are descendants of the Middlesex Co Guttery guys.

Your time and knowledge is always very much appreciated. If I have any information that you think would be of interest, please let me know.

Cheers,

Vikky Wilburn Anders in San Diego
