Duane H. Gustafson, 83, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Saturday, September 15, 2007, in his home following a brief illness. Funeral Services were held on Wednesday, September 19th, at St. Matthew's Catholic Church. Burial in Mount Calvary Cemetery with military rites by the American Legion Hanford Post No. 5. Rev. Mark Osterhaus officiated. Survivors include a daughter, Nancy M. Keeney (Doug) of Center Point; three sons, Mark E. Gustafson (Julie) of St. Charles, MO, Gary A. Gustafson of Robins and Jeff L. Gustafson (Barb) of Norfolk, Nebraska; and five grandchildren, Scott, Jason and Ben Keeney, Jennifer Gustafson and Zach Miller. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Alice in 1989; a grandson, Drew Gustafson; two sisters, Elsie Wenzel and Mildred Fox; and one brother, Kermith Gustafson. Duane was born January 22, 1924, in Jackson County, Minnesota, the son of David and Selma (Carlson) Gustafson. He married Alice M. Rynda on September 24, 1949 in New Prague, Minnesota. Duane was an engineering technician at Rockwell Collins for 38 years. He was a member of St. Matthew's Catholic Church, the American Legion Hanford Post No. 5, V.F.W. Post No. 788 and the Holy Name Society. He was a Minister of Hospitality at St. Matthew's Catholic Church for several years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
