Donald,
Thank you for responding. I do not have a Charles Anthony Guss in my notes. But I do not have any sibling names of my ancestors..so I cannot say for sure if he is a relation or not. Here is what I have found out so far:
The first thing I found out is their last name was spelled Gusz when they came to the U.S. I found their passenger records on the Ellis Island site. My great grandmother was Margaretha Gusz b. 1-25-1895. She came here with her step mother and father Niklos Gusz b. 1-25-1870
Their passenger record and ship manifest states their ethnicity as Hungary,German. They traveled on the ship The Kronprinz Wilhelm and arrived at Ellis Island New York on May 30, 1911. Their port of departure was Bremen, Germany. And place of residence in Europe was Temesfures, Hungary. I don't believe they lived in New York for any amount of time. But came to Mansfield, Ohio.
It would be interesting to see if your father or his parents came to the U.S the same time as my ancestors. Please let me know if this helped or you have any questions. I will be sure to let you know if I do come across that name in my searching!Karie
